Date
Time
Location
Presented by Woods Hole Music, Inc and The Listening Room of Cape Cod at Steeple Street Music Academy:
A trio led by Steve Riley, founder of The Mamou Playboys, will play a concert at 7:30PM on Saturday, July 6 in THE LISTENING ROOM OF CAPE COD, 40 Steeple Street, in Mashpee Commons.
Steve Riley (Cajun accordion and vocals), will be accompanied by David Greely (violin) and Burke Riley (guitar, percussion and vocals). These musicians represent three-fifths of The (world-famous) Mamou Playboys! They’ve come north briefly to celebrate the life of a recently departed colleague. We’re lucky to get them to Cape Cod!
Check out the full group on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert HERE
TICKETS ARE $40 AND CAN BE PURCHASED HERE

THE DETAILS:
One review says, “These guys have set the standard for modern Cajun music.”
Mamou, Louisiana, is about 50 miles northwest of Lafayette, deep in the heart of the Cajun culture, where French is frequently the language spoken at home, where Cajun music is a living tradition. Steve Riley and David Greely founded The Mamou Playboys in 1988. The band has toured the world and released sixteen albums, four of which were Grammy-nominated for categories such as “Best Traditional Folk Album.”
Another review says, “There is NO WAY you can listen to this [music] and not tap your feet along with the infectious Cajun rhythms.”
David Greely wrote recently, saying that Steve, Burke and he ” . . . played a gig yesterday and we had a blast. Steve and I have always had a great vocal blend and now with DNA harmony, father and son, it’s a 3-part bonanza.”
The Library of Congress blog calls Steve, “a widely-acclaimed master of the Cajun accordion,” and says, “For the past 31 years, Steve and his renowned group, the Mamou Playboys, have traveled the United States and the world as ambassadors of Cajun music and culture.”
Join us for a very special, genuine Cajun evening! Laissez les bons temps rouler!
