Merchant Spotlight

Meet the merchants of Mashpee Commons as we spotlight the businesses and owners that make up our neighborhood each month.

Riddle Cape Cod

Riddle Cape Cod is celebrating its 4 year business anniversary in April!

Riddle is an Escape Room consisting of five different games! An Escape Room is a live action adventure game for ages 10+. It is an interactive and thematic room full of puzzles, clues and challenges. Teams have 60 minutes to complete the mission at hand and make an escape.

Sheryl and her husband Taylor became the new owners of Riddle Cape Cod in the summer of 2020. They have played over 200 escape rooms all around the world, and even chose their honeymoon destination based on where they could play the most escape rooms!

Sheryl and Taylor pride themselves on designing and building all of their own games and integrating their own hints within each room.

Escape Rooms are a  great activity for friends, families, birthday celebrations, date nights, corporate team building, bachelor/ette parties, rainy days, etc…

Verde Floral Design

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Verde Floral Design is our merchant spotlight for the month of February.

Verde Floral Design is a Cape Cod florist creating custom designs for weddings, events, businesses & homes. They carry unique gifts, vessels & indoor plants. Verde Floral Designs is located at 19 Fountain Street in Mashpee Commons, and they are currently offering curbside pickup and delivery service. Verde’s mission is simple: Create joyful experiences for others through beautiful floral arrangements.

Hira Rafiq – the new owner of Verde – shared with us how she got started at the shop and where she plans to take the businesses moving forward.

Back in May 2018, Hira was studying for her GREs and wandered into Verde looking for a part-time job. As her passion for flowers and the business grew, she transitioned into a management position at the shop. In December of 2020, her role transitioned again, this time as the owner of Verde. As she looks toward the future – when gatherings are safe again – Hira plans to launch Verde’s private Floral Arrangement classes for groups of up to 15, either at the shop or private residence closeby. This is a great activity baby/bridal showers, birthday parties and get-togethers. Hira also plans to host an open house at the shop to celebrate her new role and to give clients a chance to get to know her.

Verde is a woman of color-owned business, with Hira being a first-generation child to Pakistani parents. Hira is proud to be the first woman in her immediate and extended family to own a business and is setting an example for her nieces to show what they can accomplish when they grow up.

Verde has some beautiful new vessels, specifically for Valentine’s Day. Find more information at or by visiting them on social media. (February 2021)
