Facts About the New Mashpee Library
What it will do for us:  A larger and more up-to-date dynamic new Mashpee Public Library will enhance the quality of life and its patrons.  It will be a "destination" where individuals can spend time persuing books and periodicals, doing research, learning in computer skills workshops, taking advantage of a wide variety of children's programs or just relaxing in comfortable seating with a good book.  It will be a cultural venue, hosting lectures, symposiums, book and film discussions, concerts and artwork displays. 
Size:  It will be 17, 370 square feet - more than triple the size of the current building. 
Cost:  $ 4,500,000 - The Town will be asked to authorize a $ 3,500,000, 20-year Revenue Bond.  $ 1,000,000 will be raised through private donations.  Donations can be made to the Friends of the Mashpee Library.
Action:  Town Meeting vote on October 18.  Two-thirds vote required.  Election on November 2.  Ballot question.  Majority vote required.
Start:  Construction to start in the first quarter (July-September) of 2006. 
Finish:  Construction to be completed by end of Calendar 2007.
