New Children’s Boutique, Fox + Kit Now Open, & Hosting Photos with Santa on Dec. 22nd!
We are so excited about the newest shop to open up here at the Commons! Fox + Kit, a children’s boutique, offers high quality and unique products as well as amazing customer service. The store is owned and operated my Lindsay Sevigny. Lindsay is a Mom with an early childhood background. She’s always dreamed of opening a children’s store and her passion is evident in her keen buying eye and commitment to providing her customers with a top-notch shopping experience.
Being a Mom, Lindsay knows that keeping your little ones entertained while you shop greatly enhances the experience for everyone. Which is why she has a fun play space for kids to utilize in the store. Fox + Kit will be open as a pop-up through Christmas and re-opening permanently sometime in February. When the store reopens, she is also planning to offer music classes for kids, stay tuned for details!
Be sure to stop by the shop this week while you are wrapping up your holiday shopping, Fox + Kit is located on Market Street, across the street from the Organic Market and near Cape Cod Coffee. You can also take a complimentary photo with Santa in the store on December 22nd from 1-4pm. To learn more about Lindsay and her boutique, read our Q & A with her below:
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what drove you to open a children’s boutique?
I graduated from The University Of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and had worked in the field for a number of years. I was then exposed to the world of children’s products when working in a similar store elsewhere.
Since moving to Massachusetts I have continued working with children, but always hoped to get back into children’s retail. I never thought that at 29 I’d be opening my own boutique, but now I have a beautiful 21 month old daughter who is the catalyst for Fox + Kit. My daughter Thea is the sweetest, most amazing person I’ve ever known and I’m so lucky to be her mom. Much of what we have at Fox + Kit we have used, and loved, at home.
How did you choose Mashpee as your location?
I began visiting the Cape when I was in high school, spending weekends and holidays at my step-father’s vacation house. When I moved to Southeastern Massachusetts I spent much of my time on Cape while nannying and later working at a local preschool. When I decided to open Fox + Kit I knew that Cape Cod was the perfect place. Mashpee in particular offered a small community feel that I love.
How long will you be open as a pop-up and when will you be re-opening your permanent location?
Fox + Kit will be open as a pop-up until Christmas, and will re-open permanently mid to late February.
Do you have any upcoming events or promotions?
Fox + Kit will have a Grand Opening Celebration later this winter (date TBD) and will also be hosting music classes and regular weekend story times. Our play space is always available for young children to enjoy while their adults look around.
Can you tell us about a few of your favorite products currently available in your shop?
I have so many favorites!
I’d have to say the Hape Ice Cream Emporium and the Clek Foonf. And Little Unicorn swaddles! The Ice Cream Emporium is a unique dramatic play option that even my young daughter enjoys playing with here.
The Clek Foonf is a revolutionary, and recyclable, car seat that offers unparalleled safety. I have one for my daughter and it’s absolutely the best purchase I have made for her.
Little Unicorn swaddles are amazing!!! They’re ridiculously soft, breathable, versatile, and they make a narwhal pattern (I love narwhals).
Can you tell us about some of your specialty lines/products?
In general I’ve tried to source many products that are either made in the USA, organic, recycled, made in Canada/Europe, or socially/environmentally conscious. I like to be able to stand behind the brands I’ve chosen.
Do you carry any locally sourced or handmade products?
I will! I’ve been talking with some local brands and plan to bring them in for the re-opening.
Where do you like to hang out at the Commons when you are not working?
I’ve spent a lot of time at both Starbucks and Cape Cod Coffee. I love being able to sit and enjoy a hot cup of tea or an iced latte. Thea and I also really enjoy painting at Color Me Mine, and many of our Christmas gifts this year were hand painted by Thea!
Do you offer gift-wrapping?
Yes! I love wrapping presents so I knew I wanted to offer complimentary gift wrapping. I have gift boxes, tissue and bags, and seasonally appropriate wrapping paper available.
