Join us for a screening of Jaws, a Shakespeare performance, Live Music & more

JawsSummer is in full swing here on Cape Cod and there are plenty of fun events to enjoy outdoors at Mashpee Commons during these gloriously long warm sunny days. This week, join us at the Bandstand for a screening of the seaside classic thriller Jaws on July 4th beginning at dusk, catch some live music by local band Hurricane on July 5th beginning at 6pm, and don’t miss a performance of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest by Cape Cod Community College’s Tilden Arts Center on Friday, July 6th beginning at 6pm (please note, this event has been postponed due to rain, stay tuned for the rain date). All Bandstand events are free, open to the public, and family friendly. The only thing you need to bring is your own chair or blanket to set up on the lawn in front of the stage. On Friday, July 6th catch local band Melic Moon performing in Central Square (near the Red Balloon Toy Shop, Ghelfi’s Candies, and Siena Restaurant) as part of our First Friday concert series. The concert is free and open to the public. Some tables and chairs will be available, guests are welcome to bring their own chairs as well. *Please note, this event has been postponed due to rain, stay tuned for the rain date.

Also happening on Friday, July 6th, from 5-7pm, Woodruff’s Art Center will be holding an opening reception for their latest art show, “Fiber Fusion: Construct, Deconstruct, Reconstruct. Fiber Fusion features work by four fiber artists, each with their own distinct take on the medium. The artists seek to expand the definition of fiber art by integrating materials other than what is normally expected in the genre. The title “Construct, Deconstruct, Reconstruct” refers to the processes the artists use to create their pieces. The show will be on display from July 5th through August 13th. In addition to the opening reception Woodruff’s will be holding “Meet the Artist” events on Sundays throughout July, during which each artist will be discussing their individual techniques. The show can also be viewed during Woodruffs Art Center’s normal business hours: Monday through Saturday, 9am-5pm and Sunday 11am-5pm. For more information, please visit or call 508-477-5767.

On Saturday, July 7th join locally owned children’s boutique Fox + Kit for their free music group featuring local music teacher, Miss Janet. The group is perfect for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, but all ages are welcome. This free event is super fun for kiddos, and it’s the perfect opportunity to expand your parent friend circle!
