Stop by Fox + Kit Children’s Boutique on August 30th for their Silhouette Artist event

Fox + Kit Children’s Boutique will be hosting silhouette artist, Erik Johnson on Thursday, August 30th from 11am-2pm. Erik is a highly skilled, 3rd generation silhouette artist, who learned the craft from his father. Within minutes, Erik hand cuts each silhouette by just looking at the subject’s profile. When he’s done you’ll have an amazing keepsake silhouette of you, your child, significant other, etc. These traditional portraits make great gifts for friends and family. Each silhouette is $30, and duplicates are $15. Framing is available. Cash and credit cards accepted. Visit their EventBrite page to reserve your spot.

Catch a screening of Ghostbusters, live music by Monica Rizzio, and an a cappella performance this week at the Bandstand

There are still a few more weeks left in August, which means there is still time to enjoy outdoor movie screenings, live music, and performances at our Bandstand! Join us this week for a screening Ghostbusters on Wednesday, August 22nd, beginning at dusk (7:30pm); Live music by Monica Rizzio on Thursday, August 23rd beginning at 6pm; and on Friday, August 24th catch a performance by Centertonix, a Cape based ensemble of talented a cappella singers, beginning at 6pm.

Join us for our Sidewalk Festival, a Shakespeare Performance, and more this week at the Commons

Join us at the Bandstand for a screening of A League of Their Own on Wednesday, August 15th, beginning at dusk (7:45pm); Live Music by Soul Purpose on Thursday, August 16th beginning at 6pm; and on Friday, August 17th catch a performance of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, by Tilden Arts Center, beginning at 6pm.

All Bandstand events are free, open to the public, and family friendly. The only thing you need to bring is your own chair or blanket to set up on the lawn in front of the stage. Check out the full schedule here, and be sure to mark your calendars for some of these fabulous Cape Cod events.

On Saturday, join us for our August Sidewalk Festival! The event runs from 12-8pm and features, live music, complimentary face painting, balloon animals, sidewalk chalk galore, magic shows, a photo contest (enter to win one of three $50 gift cards to the Mashpee Commons business of your choice) and a sidewalk sale throughout the neighborhood!

All Sidewalk Fest activities are free and open to the public. Extended summer shopping hours are currently in place, so you can visit your favorite businesses through 8pm during the event. A detailed list of activities can be found here.

On Sunday, August 19th, stop by Mashpee Commons Farmer’s Market to shop fresh produce, baked goods, handcrafted artworks, and enjoy live music by Kim Moberg during the event. The Market takes place from 12-4pm and the live music will be happening from 1-3pm.

Stop by our August Sidewalk Festival, happening this Saturday!

Join us for our August Sidewalk Festival, taking place on Saturday, August 18th from 12-8pm. You’ll find live music, a magic show, complimentary face painting, balloon animals, sidewalk chalk galore, a sidewalk sale, and more taking place throughout the neighborhood! Face Painting:
12-8pm, Fountain Plaza, near Trevi Café Wine Bar & Market Street Bookshop

Balloon Animals & Glitter Tattoos:
12-8pm, near Hot Diggity & Port Cargo

Cornhole:
12-8pm, cornhole boards can be found throughout the Commons including in front of MOCEAN, Vineyard Vines Cape Cod, The Black Dog, Hot Diggity, Southern Tide, and at The Lanes Bowl & Bistro.

Sidewalk Chalk:
Chalk art demos, led by the The Cape Cod Art Bar, will be taking place from 12-4pm on the Fountain Plaza (near Market Street Bookshop and Trevi Cafe Wine Bar). Additionally, you can design your own chalk art creations with chalk located throughout the neighborhood from 12-8pm.

Magic Shows:
The Magicompany will be performing two 30-min shows beginning at 2pm & 3pm, in Central Square, near Red Balloon Toy Shop.

Photo Contests:
Take a pic in front of the Cape Cod Art Bar’s pop-up mural, which will be located near Bleu Restaurant and Sol Optics, tag @mashpeecommons, and use the hashtag #mashpeevibes. Three winners will be picked on Sunday, July 22nd, and each will receive a $50 gift card to the Mashpee Commons business of their choice!

Anna From Frozen, Meet & Greet:
Meet Anna from Disney’s Frozen between 12-5pm at the Red Balloon Toy Shop. You can also receive 20% off all Melissa & Doug products at the store during the event.

All activities are free and open to the public. And don’t forget, extended summer shopping hours are currently in place, so you can visit your fav businesses through 8pm.

Get those Wish List items during Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday, taking place this weekend!

Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday is taking place this weekend! Catch local musician Grace Morrison performing live at the Bandstand this Thursday!

We are thrilled to host Grace Morrison at the Bandstand this Thursday, August 2nd! Grace mixes her effortless musicality with original storytelling. She shares deeply personal stories through her soulful folk songs with a pop-music flare. In 2017 Grace released her first full length CD: “I’m The Apple”. The album includes catchy choruses, emotion, and of course storytelling; all key elements of her unique style. Grace is a regular on the national festival circuit and has won a number of prestigious awards including the Eventide Arts Songwriting Competition and the Big Break contest where her music video was played on the season finale of American Idol. You can learn more about Grace, view a schedule of upcoming performances, and stream her new album on her website.

Join us for Live Music by Monica Rizzio and a Zombie Theater Experience at the Bandstand

Monica RizzioCatch local musician Monica Rizzio and her band performing live at the Bandstand on Thursday, July 26th from 6-8pm! All events at the Bandstand are free, open to the public, and family friendly. The only thing you need to bring is your own chair or blanket to set up on the lawn in front of the stage.

Monica is a Country/Folk singer-songwriter who grew up in the bible belt of East Texas and now resides here on Cape Cod. She has enjoyed a richly diverse musical career as both a performer and teacher. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Monica has maintained a private teaching studio for the past five years teaching voice, violin, piano, flute, guitar, music theory and song-writing. She has recorded three albums with pop-folk group Tripping Lily and presently maintains an active performance calendar, singing in various venues both locally and nationally. Monica was nominated for the IMA Country Album of the Year, stream her album on Spotify to have a listen.

On Friday, July 27th join us for Watermelon Alligator Theatre Company’s improv comedy show “How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse”. Laugh your way to survival with this hilarious group of sketch comedy improv actors. The show starts at 6pm.
