This Saturday, April 1st, at exactly 12:00 noon, the future of entertainment on Cape Cod will change forever, and this is no April Fool’s joke! Join Riddle for a chance to win cool prizes during their Grand Opening celebration. Seven lucky winners will get a shot at solving the puzzle that magically unlocks the doors to this mysterious new business. We also heard that these seven lucky participants will win a $50 gift certificate from a Mashpee Commons merchant (Siena Restaurant, Bobby Byrnes, The Lanes Bowl and Bistro, Organic Market, MOCEAN, Modern Mix Giftery, and Gustare Oils and Vinegars), plus a coupon for a free game at Riddle, and a Riddle T-shirt! Bottom line, there will be epic amounts of fun taking place at Riddle! To participate, simply stop by Riddle at 12:00 Noon (SHARP) to receive a ticket and a chance to be randomly selected as one of the lucky seven to solve the puzzle.
On Sunday, April 2nd at exactly 1:00pm, the fun continues with Riddle’s Grand Opening Scavenger Hunt. Find characters such as a Pirate, a Vampire, or an Oompah Loompah, follow the clues they provide, solve the riddles, and you could win a “sweet” prize: a Ghelfi’s Candies of Cape Cod gift basket (valued at $150 – yum!), a coupon for a free game at Riddle, and a Riddle T-shirt. Interested attendees must be present in front of Riddle at 1:00pm (SHARP) in order to participate in the scavenger hunt, and should plan to wear sneakers or comfortable shoes. Think “Amazing Race”!
Immediately following the Scavenger Hunt, Riddle will present a check donation to local non-profit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands. Riddle chose to donate a portion of the proceeds from their opening weekend to this wonderful local organization in an effort to support their mission to serve more kids on the Cape & Islands.
Riddle, located at 61 Market Street (near the Organic Market), is an Escape Room consisting of six different games. An Escape Room (also known as Escape Game, Mystery Room) is a live action adventure game where players have 60 minutes to work together as a team to complete a mission by solving a series of puzzles, riddles and connecting clues. Each of the six games at Riddle has a unique theme with puzzles integrated into the storyline. Participants must use their wit, creativity, inquisitiveness, problem-solving skills and teamwork to successfully complete the mission.
It is Riddle’s goal to provide participants with the opportunity to put down the electronics, leave the real world behind and have a blast spending 60 minutes of quality time with family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers. Riddle is co-owned and created by Nicole Merriman and Ashley Carr, also co-owners of Hot Diggity. For more information, visit RiddleCapeCod.com or call 508-648-7664. When we heard Cupcake Charlie’s was releasing a brand new flavor in honor of St. Patrick’s Day we knew we had to try this confection for ourselves. The Irish Mint cupcake features their classic vanilla cake, fluffy mint cream filling, and is finished off with a decadent mint buttercream, green sprinkles and Andes mints. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. The fluffy vanilla cake compliments the rich minty icing perfectly, and the creamy filling is the perfect element to marry the two components. The Irish Mint will be featured in the case daily through Friday, March 17th.
In addition to this delectable treat, Cupcake Charlie’s will be featuring their usual St. Paddy’s day specials, such as their Mr. Jack Daniel’s, Chocolate Guinness, and The Nutty Irishman. They will also have their traditional flavors, like Peanut Butter Pleasure (another one of our faves) and Vanilla Luvs Chocolate decorated for the holiday. The bakery will be stocked with an assortment all week, so you can simply pop-in if you want to pick up a few, or call ahead if you want to request a special selection.

You may have seen our story on the blog from a few months back introducing you to the new owner of locally owned boutique, Cape Kids (if you missed it, check it out here). Well, we have some additional exciting news to share about this quaint little shop, Cape Kids has moved up the street from their previous location into a light-filled space with a modern vibe; perfect for Amanda’s vision to meld her Los Angeles roots with her love of Cape Cod. Amanda’s goal with the new space is to capture the free-spirited essence of childhood. She aims to create a space where kids feel they can let loose, while parents shop for unique items for their precious littles.
We recently stopped by to check out the space for ourselves. The cozy boutique is filled with natural light. The playful palm trees and greenery adoring the space combined with the seashore inspired palette create a cheerful and welcoming environment. One of our favorite elements is the teepee, in which kids are welcome to play while parents shop (Amanda eventually plans to have a small library of books in the teepee for kids to peruse). You can find Cape Kids in their new location on North Street, across the street from Starbucks in Mashpee Commons. For more info, check out Amanda’s website and be sure to follow her on Facebook and Instagram for style inspiration and parenting humor.
Stop by The Black Dog this Saturday and you may just walk out with your new best friend. Adoptable dogs from the local MSPCA will be visiting their Mashpee store on March 11th from 10am-12pm. Finding homes for rescue dogs is a mission close The Black Dog’s hearts (their namesake Black Dog was a rescue pup herself!) which is why every year they partner with local non-profits to spend a day introducing shelter dogs to their forever homes. To help those who adopt during the event welcome their new family members, The Black Dog will generously be giving out complimentary totes containing dog care essentials (pictured above).
If you are not quite ready to commit to adoption but would still like to support this wonderful resource for animals, you can help by simply picking up your new Black Dog gear on Saturday (perfect time to grab that hoodie you’ve been eyeing). Throughout the day, 20% of the store’s sales will be donated to the Cape Cod MSPCA shelter. Customers can also enjoy giveaways and activities during the event. Anyone who stops by the shop on Saturday is welcome to enter their tote bag raffle, filled with over $100 worth of goodies for your pup (pictured above).
For more information, stop by the store on the corner of Market and Steeple Street, across from Vineyard Vines or give them a ring at 508-681-8952.
